The Gilmerton Road Short Breaks Service in Edinburgh provides a vital opportunity for disabled children and young people to learn new skills, gain some independence and most of all have fun. While they are being looked after by highly trained staff it gives the children’s families the chance to take a break.
The old building was in desperate need of renovation and with sufficient funds having been raised work started on transforming the building early in 2015.
I was commissioned to film the renovation process, document the changes to the building and the effect that it will have on the children and staff. The film will be used to promote the work that Action for Children does and encourage more fundraising for similar projects.
